EuProductScore
Discover how European the products you consume are and find more European alternatives. A tool to support European manufacturing and innovation.
The European Manufacturing Question
Given the rise of globalized products, it’s become increasingly important to understand how much of what we consume is actually made in Europe. With growing commercial tensions and trade wars, supporting European manufacturing and innovation has never been more relevant.
We have a continent with a rich history of craftsmanship and innovation. EuProductScore helps you discover just how European your everyday products are—and find more European alternatives.
The Vibe Coding Experiment
This project was my first deep dive into the emerging trend of “Vibe Coding” in 2025. I wanted to test whether AI-assisted development tools could help build something quickly while still maintaining the quality and best practices I’d apply in hand-coded projects.
I experimented with several tools: Cursor, Windsurf, Antigravity, and various open-source extensions, each paired with different LLMs. The goal wasn’t just speed—it was to see if AI could help me build a solid, well-architected codebase.
What I Learned About AI-Assisted Development
Vibe coding requires discipline. There are practices to adopt: bank memory, rules, workflows, and constant oversight. The tools are powerful, but they’re not autonomous.
Don’t let AI run completely alone. I learned this the hard way when I accidentally burned through some Euros due to an inefficient database setup. Nothing catastrophic, but a good reminder that AI needs guardrails.
Cloudflare Workers continues to impress. Once again, I chose Cloudflare’s edge platform, and once again, I fell more in love with it. The developer experience, performance, and generous free tier make it perfect for side projects.
Svelte just feels right. I’ve tried Next.js, Angular, Nuxt.js, and Astro. But somehow, Svelte remains my favorite. It’s enjoyable, easy, robust, and fast. There’s something about its simplicity that just clicks.
How It Works
EuProductScore indexes over 200,000 products across 5 major product families, analyzing their origin and manufacturing data. Users can search for products, see their European score, and discover more locally-made alternatives.
The entire application runs on Cloudflare’s edge network—Workers for compute, D1 for data storage, and the Open Food Facts API for product information. Everything happens at the edge with minimal latency.
The Tech Stack
Built entirely on modern web technologies:
- SvelteKit for the frontend framework
- Cloudflare Workers for serverless compute at the edge
- D1 for SQL database storage
- Open Food Facts API for product data
- TypeScript for type safety
- TailwindCSS for styling
